Community Needs
There are a variety of services for older people in Bath & North East Somerset. BEMSCA is the only organization working solely with senior members of the black and other minority ethnic citizens, offering a unique understanding of their cultural, dietary and language needs.
Additional aims include:

To ensure the individual needs of isolated Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) senior citizens in Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES) are met in culturally sensitive ways to promote independent and healthy living.

To increase awareness of health issue and choices, healthy eating and opportunities to be active, and providing a stimulating learning and fun environment.

To increase awareness of available statutory and voluntary service provision.

To offer information and advice, translated and interpreting in users’ languages.

To increase the awareness of the needs of BME older people in order that services are responsive.

To provide support referral services and offer home / hospital visits.
