Outreach

Bath Ethnic Minority Senior Citizens Association (BEMSCA) have offered an outreach service for approaching 30 years.

BEMSCA is committed to reaching out to its members some of who do not have English as their first language.

We provide services (including language support) to our BEMSCA members who might not otherwise have access to key services. For example GP’s, social services etc.

Our BEMSCA team meet those in need when they need them most and we raise awareness surrounding existing services.  This is an integral part of our outreach team, to help and support our members, who  may  not be able to get to BEMSCA’s day services, through ill health, caring responsibilities or mobility issues.

BEMSCA believe that our project workers, are experienced and recognise cultural differences, that can make it difficult to source support and this brings a unique aspect to the BEMSCA outreach service.

Member involvement is key to us as ensuring our outreach services are effective. Another aspect to our outreach service, is where a member of our team will accompany a member to appointments and other activities outside of their home.

We also complete wellbeing calls to our members and this is extremely important, in order to reduce the risk of social isolation and loneliness.
