Health & Wellbeing

BEMSCA recognise that it is not just our physical health we need to take care of but we also need to make sure that we take care of our emotional wellbeing too, as that is equally as important.

It is untrue that getting older means that you can no longer be active and you have

to stop. BEMSCA encourage all our members to keep moving!

GP services do not always need to be your first contact when you feel unwell. There are many other services that can offer support and advice, when you need it.

At BEMSCA we have a range of information sharing days from agencies (we work with) including Age UK, Peggy Dodd, RICE, Alzheimer’s Society, Bristol Sickle Cell Thalassaemia centre and local GP practices, who are able to offer advice around blood pressure and diabetes.

Comforting Hands

BEMSCA recognise that it is not just our physical health we need to take care of but we also need to make sure that we take care of our emotional wellbeing too, as that is equally as important.

For many older people it can be difficult to talk about depression or anxiety but much like  physical health conditions, there are services available to support at times of need.

BEMSCA have seen that talking about it, is the start  start feeling better and it’s never too late to talk to someone about what is worrying you.

Bereavement can affect people in different ways and at BEMSCA we recognise that culturally, this is different for our members. Losing a loved one can bring up lots of different emotions, thoughts and feelings.

Our support at BEMSCA can help you manage whatever you are going through.
